I am religious but I hate visiting temples( the popular ones) because of this reason. 

The VIP culture is so stupid, if you are so important don't visit the temple and if you want to visit then do it like everyone else. 


Kalkaji temple alone must be getting donations in lakhs if not crores and not even a fraction of it is used for temples development or social service.


I have thought about creating a temple management startup, where qualified people will manage temple's operations and finances in a completely transparent manner, all the financial reports will be released to public every month. But I think I'll just get killed if I try doing this

Temples are a scam run by priests and politicians. Even in Siddhivinayak, there is a free of cost line, one 100/- ra line, and if you give 1500/- you get direct darshan.

A few families of Brahmins run the mandir. That get the priest ship by rotation.
A huge amount of money is earnt in a very short period of their tenure .
That’s all they care about.
And no, no Dalits or OBCs can be the priest.
I know this because a colleague becomes the priest every few years.
The court was going to give it to the government a few years ago, but decided to favour the Brahmins, who essentially are earning for free for literally doing nothing of merit or any hard work. Nor can anyone get a piece of the profits except the few people in control

Hinduism is a joke today. This is the reason I don't go to any temples anymore. They are waiting to sell you useless things like milk, honey, oil to be put on the idol, then someone waiting to earn out of you fearing losing chappals, next you are in lines that say express darshan for 50 rupees more. And then ask you for donations all the time, while not offering any real support in times of crisis but exploitation instead. 

The rich donate to these temples to gain positions of power in society and temples and we idiots keep going in the name of faith, while it's just become a mechanical task to visit a temple today.

There was a bidding system being used until the govt took over the temple 3-4 years earlier, since then it has been under construction and hopefully the govt will renovate it properly, the bhardwaj family from chirag delhi has been the so called "pujari" from many generations, the family used a bidding system to decide which family member will be the main pujari for a month, the one who bids the highest amount get's the temple for a month and the bidding amount is given to the rest of the family, thankfully, all that is over now.

It’s pretty same everywhere for almost every temples but I feel &amp; observed ki almost har temple ka ek time window hai during you witnessed less crowd and peaceful env. But that you only figure out if you are live nearby or local.

Turned an athiest long ago. These things will turn many more into one. Just be a sensible thiest and pray at home and use logic in faith. Avoid seamstress like pandits and mandirs. Choose faith for yourself and use it how you want to use it.

Go to any temple if you have enough money for VIP treatment, otherwise stay at home and do your pooja and other faith related stuff there. I'm not an atheist but haven't set my foot in any tample in last 7-8 years because I know these places are filled with illiterate and uncivilized people plus don't forget those creepy boys and uncles who take advantage of these crowded situations. I've seen those incidents and since then, avoiding them seems better imho.

It is situation of all the major temples around the country. So I have got a legit hack for you. Just chant/remember God in your head, you will never need to go to temples.

I have started to hate temples. Everyone involved is so money minded. Majority of the famous temples have a seperate vip darshan option for which you'll have to pay, priests treat you compared to someone who is rich. You can see the discrimination. Gurudwaras are the best
